Process Mapping Fundamentals

A process is simply how work actually flows from trigger to outcome. You cannot improve what you have not made visible.

Map the real process, not the ideal one - Identify the trigger that starts the work - List each step and who owns it - Mark the hand-offs — most delay and error lives here - Note where work waits, not just where it moves

Then improve deliberately Remove steps that add no value, reduce hand-offs, and make the remaining steps consistent before you try to make them faster.
